Homework - Week 9

There are 3 homework days worth of work to complete. During your three home learning days please work with your child to complete the homework sheets sent home. You will find links to copies of each item sent home below in the appropriate section in case you misplace the homework. Make sure you send the completed homework back to school for me to mark and return to you so we can all help your child progress in their learning.

NUMERACY

Number of the Day (One per day)

Use the number of the day template to complete the number of the day (pick one each day). If you forget how, check the completed example provided in your home learning package and at the bottom of the numeracy page, along with a video showing how to complete the page. Students in Grade 2 can work with 2-digit numbers or more, and students in Grade 3 and up should be working with 3-digit numbers.

Math Tasks  (Worksheets)

Try your best to complete the numeracy worksheets for this week. Each one works on a different kind of skill. 

Worksheets:
Daily Math (week 6) - We started these sheets in class. Please complete the rest of the days and the brain stretch. Use the cheat sheets provided for help with conversions, shapes, time, and more.

Ordinal Numbers (4 pages) - Complete the pages to practice understanding ordinal numbers.

Follow the directions for each task. Try your best to estimate reasonably without looking at the answers. 
Acts 2 and 3 give you more information and the answer.

LITERACY

Reading

Read for at least 20 minutes each day. Keep track in your learning log and fill out the Home Reading program sheet. Don't forget to let me know how easy/difficult the books are so I can make sure to give you the right level. Students can also be reading on Epic Books (linked on their Chromebooks) between the hours of 7am and 4pm on weekdays, and for up to 2 hours outside of those times. Go to getepic.com/students and put in the class code bgx6631.

Writing Tasks  (Prompts and Worksheets)

Use the pages provided to do some writing each day. You can choose your own topic or use the prompts below. Don't forget to put the date at the top of your page and add your own picture. Try your best to use full sentences including capital letters and punctuation. Use your nicest writing, including finger spaces between words. Check over your writing when you're done to make sure it makes sense and you didn't leave out or use any words.

A Visit to a Petting Farm (Grade 2)
 - read the story, then answer the questions and complete the activities on the following pages.
Say It With Flowers (Grade 3+) - read the story, then answer the questions and complete the activities on the following pages.
Printing practice sheets with sentences (D, E) - trace the letters in the correct way as shown, then make your own letters to fill the line and the line below. Then trace the sentence and write it on your own underneath.

Spelling (groups are based on the colour of your words)

Students can be practicing their words at home by writing them, sorting them, doing practice tests, and playing games on Spelling City.
Cohort A  took home a new set of words this week as we just had our spelling test. They can work on the next sort at home and show me what they know at school next week (Sorts 29 and 2). 
Cohort B is working with the set of words sent home last week. (Sorts 29 and 9).
