There are 3 homework days worth of work to complete. During your three home learning days please work with your child to complete the homework sheets sent home. You will find links to copies of each item sent home below in the appropriate section in case you misplace the homework. Make sure you send the completed homework back to school for me to mark and return to you so we can all help your child progress in their learning.
NUMERACY
Number of the Day (One per day)
Use the number of the day template to complete the number of the day (pick one each day). If you forget how, check the completed example provided in your home learning package and at the bottom of the numeracy page. You should try with 2 digit numbers, but once you get the hang of it you can try 3 or 4 digits.

Math Tasks (Worksheets)
Try your best to complete the numeracy worksheets for this week. Each one works on a different kind of skill.
Worksheets: Daily Math (week 4) - We started the week 4 sheets in class. Please complete the rest of the days and the brain stretch. Use the cheat sheets provided for help with conversions and time. Addition Word Problems- read the questions and answer them as best you can. Show your work! Colour by Sum- colour in the sections of the picture with the correct colour according to the answer (sum). Data Pet Store Tally and Questions - Use tally marks to count the animals in the pet store, then answer the questions about them.
Games
There are lots of numeracy games you can play at home together using pencil and paper, dice, or cards. Students can also use their Chromebook or other device to play some of the online games suggested.
Click the link above to see the 3 act task. Follow the directions for each task. Try your best to estimate reasonably without looking at the answers. Acts 2 and 3 give you more information and the answer.
LITERACY
Reading
Read for at least 20 minutes each day. Keep track in your learning log and fill out the Home Reading program sheet. Don't forget to let me know how easy/difficult the books are so I can make sure to give you the right level.

Writing Tasks (Prompts and Worksheets)
Use the pages provided to do some writing each day. You can choose your own topic or use the prompts below. Don't forget to put the date at the top of your page and add your own picture. Try your best to use full sentences including capital letters and punctuation. Use your nicest writing, including finger spaces between words. Check over your writing when you're done to make sure it makes sense and you didn't leave out or use any words. Prompts: Write about this picture: Horse in Leaves Would you rather have a magic carpet or personal robot? Why? Write about what you are going to do for Halloween.
Worksheets: Colour by Short Vowel Sound - Read each word aloud to know what short vowel it says, then colour it according to the key. Silly Stories: Mindfulness of Emotions - Work with your child to fill in the blanks (don't tell them what the story is until the end). Then read the story together. Tell a Silly Animal Tale - fill in the blanks of the sheet with the types of words written under each blank line. Read your silly story at the end.
Spelling (groups are based on the colour of your words)
Cohort A took home a new set of words this week as we just had our spelling test. They can work on the next sort at home and show me what they know at school next week. (Sorts 28 and 1) Cohort B is still working on the words that went home last week and will be tested on them next week (Sorts 28 and 8)
