There are 3 homework days worth of work to complete. During your three home learning days please work with your child to complete the homework sheets sent home. You will find links to copies of each item sent home below in the appropriate section in case you misplace the homework. Make sure you send the completed homework back to school for me to mark and return to you so we can all help your child progress in their learning.
Number of the Day (One per day)
Use the number of the day template to complete the number of the day (pick one each day). If you forget how, check the completed example provided in your home learning package and at the bottom of the numeracy page, along with a video showing how to complete the page. Students in Grade 2 can work with 2-digit numbers or more, and students in Grade 3 and up should be working with 3-digit numbers.
Numbers: 76 OR 876 32 OR 532 49 OR 249
Math Tasks (Worksheets)
Try your best to complete the numeracy worksheets for this week. Each one works on a different kind of skill.
Worksheets: Daily Math (week 10) - I've included all the days and the brain stretch at homework. You could do Monday and Tuesday for Day 1, Wednesday and Thursday for Day 2, and Friday and Brain Stretch for Day 3. Each day works on different skills, so please try to work on all of the sheets this week. Don't forget to use your cheat sheets if needed.
Fact Families - Complete the 2 sheets to practice making and recognizing fact families. Fact families are a set of numbers that work together. Being able to make and recognize fact families will help students understand the relationship between addition and subtraction. An example of a fact family is: 8 + 3 = 11 3 + 8 = 11 11 - 8 = 3 11 - 3 = 8
Follow the directions for each task. Try your best to estimate reasonably without looking at the answers.
Acts 2 and 3 give you more information and the answer.
Online programs with assignments: Please take some time this week to use the Chromebook (or other device) to engage with the online programs we have set up. There are some assignments for students to complete. Their updated login info is posted to FreshGrade.
Read for at least 20 minutes each day. Keep track in your learning log and fill out the Home Reading program sheet. Don't forget to let me know how easy/difficult the books are so I can make sure to give you the right level. Students can also be reading on Epic Books (linked on their Chromebooks) between the hours of 7am and 4pm on weekdays, and for up to 2 hours outside of those times. Go to getepic.com/studentsand put in the class code bgx6631. Students are also set up on RAZ kids where they can practice books at their level (teacher login is klesowski0).
Word of the Day (One per day)
Use the word of the day template to complete the word of the day (pick one each day). If you forget how, check the completed example provided in your home learning package and at the bottom of the literacy page, along with a video showing how to complete the sheet. Words: Sweden Mexico Poinsettia
Writing Tasks (Prompts and Worksheets)
Use the pages provided to do some writing each day. You can choose your own topic or use the prompts below. Don't forget to put the date at the top of your page and add your own picture. Try your best to use full sentences including capital letters and punctuation. Use your nicest writing, including finger spaces between words. Check over your writing when you're done to make sure it makes sense and you didn't leave out or use any words. Prompts: None this week. Your child can choose what they want to write about. Students should be writing as many sentences as what grade they are in (ie. Grade 2 writes 2 sentences).
Worksheets: Daily Language Review (Week 2) - I've included all 5 days of Daily Language Review. These sheets are great practicing language skills, and should be relatively easy for your child to complete, though some concepts have not been fully covered so they may need help understanding what each part is asking of them.
Spelling (groups are based on the colour of your words)
Students can be practicing their words at home by writing them, sorting them, doing practice tests, and playing games on Spelling City. Cohort Atook home a new set of words this week as we just had our spelling test. They can work on the next sort at home and show me what they know at school next week. Their test won't be until the January (Sort 31). Cohort Bis working with the set of words sent home last week. They will have their test next week (Sort 31 and 11).
