How-to: Number of the Day
Number of the day is a task that hits many numeracy concepts including place value, different forms of the word, decomposition, relational values, addition and subtraction, and rounding. Use the number of the day sheet provided. Have your child try their best to complete it on their own, but you can help as needed. See the video below for how to complete the number of the day sheet.

There are lots of numeracy games you can play at home together using pencil and paper, dice, or cards. Students can also use their Chromebook or other device to play some of the online games suggested.

How-to: Word of the Day
Word of the day helps students learn more about words. They can find the vowels and consonants, count the syllables, find rhyming words, use the word in a sentence, define the word, and even show their knowledge of the word in a different language. Sometimes the words are chosen at random, but usually they coincide with what we’re learning about at school. See the video below for how to complete the word of the day sheet.
